Sewage Spill at Mount Baker Park

On Wednesday, August 20 sewage from a broken sewer pipe entered a part of the drainage system upstream of Mount Baker Park. This part of the drainage system drains onto a rocky land area on the shore of Lake Washington. Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) stopped the sewer overflow at approximately 2 p.m. and completed repair of the broken pipe by approximately 10 p.m.

A half mile of waterfront, including the swim beach at Mount Baker Park, is closed for water activities until August 27. Signs are posted along the beach; they will be removed when the beach is reopened.
